The Eastport Pirate Festival, hosted in one of Downeast Maine’s most charming lobster fishing villages, is three days of live music, merry-making and coastal Maine fun. This year’s Eastport Pirate Festival is scheduled for the 11th, 12th and 13th of September and the festivities include a road race, treasure hunt, parade, fireworks, lobster crate races and a friendly ‘invasion’ from the neighboring lobster fishing village of Lubec (there is also an invasion of Lubec which has been scheduled for the 5th of September this year). Below are the details of the 2015 Eastport Pirate Festival schedule.

Saturday, September 5th – Friendly Invasion of Lubec
8:00 a.m. – Invasion prep at the Chowder House, complete with pirate grog, bloodies, mimosas, coffee and donuts
9:00 a.m. – Pirate invasion of Downtown Lubec by water, land and air. Fundy Breeze Boat Charters, Lady H and Lady Patricia are all offering invasion trips.
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Lubec pirate day with food and art vendors and pirate-themed festivities ranging from tug-a-wars to costume contests along with a kids carnival.
Friday, September 11th
1:30 p.m. – Pirate Whale Watch Cruise on the Lady Patrice.
5:30 p.m. – Cannon Fire and Demonstrations at the Amphitheater.
6:00 – 6:30 p.m. – Pirate Puppet Show at the Sutherland Amphitheater.
6:30 – 7:15 p.m. – Kids entertainment by Ron ‘The Friendly Pirate’ at Pirate Encampment on Water Street.
7:15 p.m. – Cannon Fire at the Amphitheater.
7:15 – 7:45 p.m. – Sword swallowing and other amazing feats by Nick Penny at the Amphitheater stage.
8:00 p.m. – Movie showing at the Eastport Arts Centre – Ice Age, Continental Drift.
9:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. – Pirate Ball at the Chowder House, with DJ’s, dancing and pirate fighting.
The judging of Eastport’s best dressed businesses and homes will also take place throughout the morning and afternoon. There will be live music throughout the afternoon.
Saturday, September 12th
7:00 a.m. – 10:00 am – A variety of hearty breakfast options will be available, from steak and eggs at the Waco Dining Room and a Fire Department Benefit Breakfast to yummy pastries at Moose Island Bakery and a 2nd Saturday Breakfast at Christ Church on Key Street.
8:30 a.m. – Underwater Pirate Treasure Hunt by Downeast Diving on the Mary H. Diebold.
9:00 a.m. – Suddy 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run for Kids. Starts at the Suddy Ballfield. Registration from 8 a.m.
9:00 a.m. – Childrens games will take place until 11 a.m. along Waterfront Walk at Mermaid Statue. There will be more games between 2 and 3 p.m. and 4 and 6 p.m.
10:00 a.m. – Children’s Pirate Boat Ride with Eastport Windjammers (and pirates, of course)!
10:00 a.m. – There will be a petting zoo on the library lawn and free pony rides at the post office parking lot running until 4 p.m. There will also be a National Guard Bounce Obstacle Course on the library lawn from 10 – 12 noon.
10:30 a.m. – Pirate story hour for kids and families at the Peavey Memorial Library.
10:45 a.m. – Cannon Fire at the Amphitheater.
11:00 a.m. – Letterpress poster printing at StudioWorks on Waterstreet (until 1 p.m.).
11:15 a.m. – Gold and Silver Doubloon Scramble in front of Breakwater Gallery.
11:30 a.m. – Kids Pirate Pagent at the Sutherland Amphitheater.
1:00 p.m. – Pirate Parade in Downtown Eastport (parade gathering at 12:30pm on High Street between the schools).
2:00 p.m. – Pirate Whale Watch Cruise on the Lady Patrice.
2:00 p.m. – A Buccaneer Boot Camp for 6-12 year olds will be taking placeon the walkway of Waco Pier until 4 p.m. Kids can learn to talk like a pirate, take sword lessons and a pirate oath and prepare themselves to defend Eastport from invasion.
2:30 p.m. – Cannon Fire at the Amphitheater.
3:00 p.m. – The Pirate Bed Races will take place from Downtown Bank Square to the Amphitheater.
4:30 p.m. – Cannon Fire at the Amphitheater.
6:00 p.m. – Start of the all you can eat BBQ chicken dinner at the Seaview Campground and the Mexican Fiesta at the Rose Garden Pub and Gallery.
7:15 p.m. – Fire demonstration/presentation by Ravenbane’s Firecraft at the fish pier.
8:00 p.m. – FIREWORKS at the fish pier. There will be cannon fire to kick off the fireworks display and there are a variety of nice options for viewing the fireworks. Eastport Windjammers are running a whirlpool, sunset and fireworks cruise and Funny Breeze Boat are offering a charter trip. Tickets need to be purchased for both cruises.
9:00 p.m. – Cannon Fire at the Amphitheater.
9:00 p.m. – A variety of dances will kick off around 9 p.m., including a Pirate Princess Ball at Seaview Campground and a Scallywag and Wenches Party at the Chowder House.
There will be other various entertainment throughout the day at Pirate Encampment and the Bank Square Stage, from Captain Crudbeard and his Pirate Bird to a Pirate Game Show as well as live music throughout the day.
Sunday, – September 13th – Pirate Invasion of Eastport

12:00 noon – INVASION OF EASTPORT by Lubec. Visitors can participate and help defend Eastport by gathering at Waco or the Fish Piers on Waterfront Walkway or by joining the Fundy Bay Breeze Charter Trip.
12:15 p.m – onward – There will be an auction, pirate weapon demonstration and cannon ball fundraiser in the early afternoon.
1:30 p.m. – Cannon lessons at the Amphitheater.
