Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster in South Freeport, Maine is a few notches above the classic roadside lobster shack but it has lovely ocean views and all the Maine menu classics, including lobster dinners and lobster rolls.
Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster serve their rolls brimming with mayonnaise-dressed lobster and a bit of lettuce, tucked inside a toasted split-top bun. They also serve golden fried ‘onion middles’ (the core, not the rings), steamed clams, fried seafood baskets and homemade desserts, including Maine’s famous whoopee pies. Speaking of fame, this lobster shack has been featured on TV shows like Rachel Ray and attracted it’s share of celebrities, including the chef Mario Batali.
If you are more interested in fine dining while in the Freeport area, the Maine Harvest Dining Room at the Harraseeket Inn serve a variety of classic and cutting edge lobster dishes, from an award-winning lobster stew and steamed lobster to lobster crepes and ‘surf and turf’ – slow braised beef short rib paired with butter poached Maine lobster.
