Harvest on the Harbor, which takes place on the Portland waterfront, is one of Maine’s most popular and premium Food and Wine Festivals. The marquee event of the festival is a lobster cooking demonstration and sampling, prepared by top Maine chefs. This year’s Harvest on the Harbor kicks off on October 17th and the schedule is below.

October 19th
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Flavors of Maine. This tasting event features the varied ingredients and styles of cooking found in Maine, along with beer and wine samples. Each dish will be prepared by a chef from a notable Maine restaurant, including chefs from the Harraseeket Inn (which serves one of my favorite lobster stews), Inn by the Sea, Ports of Italy, East Ender and DiMillo’s. October 20th
12:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Maine Lobster Chef of the Year. This annual event sees some of Maine’s top chefs prepare unique and varied lobster dishes which attendees can sample, along with thoughtful drink pairings, while a panel of judges review the dishes and award one chef with the title of Maine Lobster Chef of the Year. There is also a People’s Choice vote. To give you a sense of the creative cooking at play, previous award winning lobster dishes have included smoked lobster and foie gras and lobster with turkish pasta and local beans. 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Harvest Happy Hour. This fun, boozy event features sips of spirits from members of Maine Craft Distiller’s Guild. Four tasting bars will be set up with custom food pairings: brown goods and bacon, vodka and veggies, gin and smoked seafood, and more paired with barbecue. October 21st
11:00 am – 3:00 pm: Market on the Harbor. This one-stop taste and sipping experience allows guests to explore the varied food and drink in Maine. October 22nd
11:00 am – 3:00 pm: Harvest Crawl. New to the Harvest on the Harbor schedule for 2017 is this self-guided tasting tour of food and drink spots in Portland including tasting rooms, bars, retail spots and restaurants. This event marks the finale of the nearly week-long festival with a sample bite or glass at each location. Venue: Multiple Tickets: $TBD
