As with previous years, this year’s Maine Lobster Festival Schedule is a five day celebration of the Maine lobster season, complete with daily lobster dinners, lobster crate races, a lobster cooking contest and the coronation of Maine’s annual ‘Sea Goddess.’ The world’s largest lobster fest takes place the first weekend in August each summer in the coastal town of Rockland, Maine. This year, lobster dinners start at $17 for a single, 1 -1/4 pound lobster and lobster rolls are being served for $14. Other lobster specialties – such as lobster mac and cheese, lobster bisque, lobster stuffed risotto balls and lobster won-tons – can also be enjoyed at the festival. I’ve never been on a vacation before and now that my kids are grown I have decided this is the time to go. I have heard how beautiful Maine is and I would love nothing more then to go somewhere where they actually have fresh seafood, Lobster, crab, and shrimp are my all time favorites, but unfortunately, I am from Iowa, so the saddest thing I’ve ever had to fresh seafood is Red Lobster. I would love to try scallops and escargot and so many other things, but the only other restraint iveheard about around here is Waterfront, which wast a $75 plate of food for one person, and although I heard they fly it in fresh everyday, I left still hungry but broke. So if I could go and visit somewhere that these food items are like our corn here, plenty of it because it’s grown here, and maybe take some time to get to see some things this would be a trip of a lifetime. Sorry to bore you with my story, but within the next year, I am going to do everything in my power to make this trip happen. If you have any helpful tips and ideas or fun places that are great to stay at, I only plan in going for 4-5 days. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and for any input you might have. 😊
