The boat price of Maine lobster is currently $3.50 per pound in Cutler where my family fish (there is no longer a distinct hard shell and soft shell / shedder price given where we are in the Maine lobster season). The market price of lobster in Maine is $7.99 for new shell lobster at Hannaford supermarkets throughout the state and and some online lobster shipping companies are selling lobster in that range as well.
While the lobster season (the Maine lobster shed or molt) came a bit later this year, the lobster are running strong now along the coast of Maine and the fishermen are putting in long days out on the ocean. I don’t believe there is a website that regularly lists the boat price of Maine lobster… which is one of the reasons I try to list the current price of lobster as often as I can on this blog. My source is my father. Whenever we talk via phone he tells me the current price and I update my blog accordingly.
