The Stonington Fishermens Day Schedule – 2015

July 13, 2015 by Christina Lemieux 2 Comments

stonington fishermens day schedule

A highlight of the Stonington Fishermens Day Schdule of events – the Cod Fish Race.

The 2015 Stonington lobster boat races have come and gone but you can get another glimpse of an authentic lobster fishing celebration in this beautiful coastal Maine village this weekend at the The Stonington Annual Fishermen’s Day

The Stonington Annual Fishermens Day is open to the public and the schedule includes several events which are uniquely part of Downeast Maine coastal celebrations, including a wacky row boat race and a cod fish relay race.  Visitors are treated to a trap hauling demonstration and a touch tank, which is especially exciting for little ones.  Fishermen also have the opportunity to test their safety skills in a survival demonstration, which is often a friendly competition to see who can put on his or her survival suit (a safer version of a dry suit) the fastest, jump into the harbor and swim to a ‘finish line.’ I’ve participated in one such race in the past and it’s harder than it looks!  The full schedule of events for the 2015 Fishermens Day in Stonington is as follows:

The Stonington Fishermens Day Schedule – Sunday the 19th, 2015

10:00 a.m.  – Gates Open
10:05 a.m.  – Moment of Silence

11:30 a.m.  – Watermelon Eating Contest
12:00 p.m. – Wacky Row Boat Races
1:00 p.m. –  Survival Demonstration

Thanks for reaching out. You’re correct, this post was written in 2015 and covered the schedule for the 2015 Stonington Fishermen’s Day. I don’t believe the 2016 schedule has been finalized as of yet. When it is I will be sure to post it!
