A quick, belated Halloween post to give mention to the odd colored lobster caught by a lobster fisherman off the coast of Massachusetts. The female lobster is half orange and half black, with the colors split perfectly down the middle. According to Metro Desk:
“The “split” coloring occurs once in every 50 to 100 million lobsters,
and scientists believe this occurs during a cellular division when the
lobster egg is first fertilized, the aquarium said.
Split lobsters also often show sexual characteristics of both genders.
