Watermans Beach Lobster, Maine

June 24, 2012 by Christina Lemieux Leave a Comment

Watermans Beach Lobster in South Thomaston, Maine serves lobster with a side of ambiance.  This lobster shack is nestled between a meadow and a rocky beach, offering views of seals, shorebirds and lobstermen hauling traps as you eat.  While Waterman’s is still a humble shack, with picnic tables scattered around a lawn and a roofed deck for dining, their menu is a bit more extensive than the average lobster shack.  They offer steamed lobsters and clams, corn on the cob and fresh salads in addition to their lobster and crab rolls.

Watermans Beach Lobster also offer a selection of homemade ice-creams and homemade pies (think blueberry, rhubarb and lemon sponge) and, while they don’t serve alcohol, they do encourage you to BYOB.  Their lobster is steamed over salt water which gives the meat a lovely, briny tang.  Their lobster rolls are served on a bun and as fresh as the sea air you’ll breath in while consuming them. It’s easy to see how, in 2001, they were designated an American Classic by the James Beard Foundation.
