After many months of radio silence on this blog, I’m finally taking the time to write and share the exciting news that I have a book in the works. The book, How To Catch A Lobster In Down East Maine, is listed on Amazon and due out later this month. Once the book is out, I will be selling copies myself via Amazon and at festivals up and down the coast of Maine so watch this space!
As per the listing, the book tells the story of what it’s like to be a lobster fisherman – from a day out on a lobster boat and the strategy of lobster fishing to the dangers of lobster fishing, the written and unwritten rules of lobster fishing and how to cook and enjoy lobster. Now that the writing of the book is finished, I hope to have more time to devote to this blog. I find it sad to see how much dust the blog has gathered over the last several years. These last several years however have been some of the most intense years of my life. During my break from blogging, my husband and I bought and renovated our first house and had our first child. Just several months after having our child, I was contacted by The History Press who had read this blog and wanted to know if I’d write a book on the subject. I was over the moon. The writing of the book (while raising my daughter and working) took up my spare time and then some. Just as I was finishing the book and beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, my mother tragically passed away. Her death has left a huge hole in my heart and in my life. I especially miss her daily emails (some of which I have shared on this blog) keeping me up-to-date with the lobster fishing season. I am sure in the months and years ahead that her voice and her perspective will be woven into the stories I tell here.
